 These beautiful Kōwhai Pod earrings are made from recycled copper and handcrafted by Nick Feint. 
The copper is then flame-oxidised giving it this special colour.

These unique earrings are created with recycled sterling silver and cast from an actual kōwhai seed pod, which has been slightly scaled down so it's light to wear.  Finished with handmade recycled sterling silver hooks and rubber stopper for extra security. 

The kōwhai seed pod is a very distinctive shape, that forms after the tree has flowered and contains a number of bright yellow seeds of the kōwhai.  The seeds readily germinate and young kōwhai seedlings are common around the garden where a tree is present. Native birds such as the tui, bellbird, kākā and New Zealand wood pigeon/kererū all benefit from kōwhai trees.

Nick works from his studio in beautiful Golden Bay and has been making and creating jewellery for over 25years. His work is created using recycled materials such as up-cycled glass helping to minimise his footprint on the world and run a business in an environmentally and socially sustainable way.
