This small Hei Tiki has been carved from New Zealand pounamu (greenstone/jade) by Moreton carvers based in Hokitika, South Island.
The Hei Tiki (Hei â to tie around the neck/ Tiki â human ancestor) is a carved figure that can be worn as a neck ornament. Usually carved from pounamu (greenstone/jade) it is said to represent the first man born and is associated with fertility.
