Description

This beautiful Paraikete (blanket) has been finely woven from 100% Organic Cotton that breathes naturally and allows new born pēpi to regulate their own temperature.
Perfect sized blanket that will continue to keep your pēpi warm all year round. Soft and cuddly and great  to take out and about or for snuggles at home.

Hononga is the Māori word meaning Connection/Relationship.

Tasmyn Roach, the founder of Awhi Company grew up in Otorohanga and now lives and works alongside her partner Lance, in Tauranga Moana.
Awhi Company was born from a love of making baby blankets for close friends and whānau (family). From muslin wraps to knitted blankets, Awhi Company believes that our pēpi (babies) should be wrapped in Te Ao Māori (the Māori world) from birth. To see tamariki (children) standing strong in who they are and where they come from, embracing their Māoritanga (Māori culture).

Each blanket is designed with an element of Te Reo Māori (Māori language) or Mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) to ensure our pēpi stand strong in their identity from the moment they enter this world. Tasmyn and Lance are proud parents of their pēpi Kahika and they are both passionate about learning Te Reo Māori and ensuring they do their part to reclaim their language for their tama (boy) and future generations.

“It is such a privilege to be able to create taonga (treasure) for our pēpi and whānau to love for many years to come."
